Mexican Perception and Changes

Ever since Presidents Trump’s Election of 2024, he’s stated multiple changes. He’s directed a lot of hate towards Hispanics, especially Mexicans because he declares them “illegal.” How does this relate to older perceptions of Mexicans and hispanics? Let’s take it into account.

Let’s first talk about current President of 2024’s election new changes. He’s declared he wishes to send every “Illegal Mexican” out of the United States. This is extremely difficult. In order to sent them back, other places must accept them. President of Mexico says she refuses to comply with Trump’s actions. And how she will not be accepting everything he does. What does this mean for the children of these immigrants? Those in high school, college, or in the work force?  Perceptions have changed plenty since he took office. Mexican students in high school — myself included have a lot to say about the new subject.

11th Grader here at Herron High School, Aaron G states:

“It’s different. I don’t know, people look and act different even though this is where I belong.”

He claims that even if he doesn’t personally feel it, perception has changed in the long run. I personally understand and feel with his sentiments. Even if one individual doesn’t feel it, it’s in the background of the bigger picture and conversation at play. Since Trump’s decisions started, it’s slowly found its way to impact the youth. It’s all about the new changes and how this new focus on border control and “keeping the Mexicans out” is effecting even their descendants and children.

Since the start of Trump’s office, it’s safe to say that yes. Yes perception and treatment of Mexicans has slowly changed and is continuing to shake the youth. Not only is it becoming  a new reality for the younger generations, but older generations must relive their previous fears of being separated from their family.
