After Herron Habits: How Cormac Todd Controls His Grades

For many Herron students, the hardest part of the day is the work after school. I interviewed a Freshman Student of Herron High School by the name of Cormac Todd for his schedule.

What do you do when you return from school to prepare yourself for the next day of class?

After I return from school, which is usually about 4:10pm, I eat a light snack to quell my hunger. Afterwards, I go for a one mile run, usually taking 8 minutes. Afterwards, I will take an hour-long shower, from 4:50pm to 5:50pm. Afterwards, I usually watch stuff on my phone. Afterwards, I cook and eat dinner with my mom until 7:00pm. Afterward, I’ll usually do some homework until 8:00pm. Then, I go to bed, anywhere from 10:30pm to 1:00pm.

So it looks like your day is pretty well thought out. Did it take you a while to figure out or did it just appear to you?

It appeared to me. I can think of things quite quickly.

That’s great to hear! Do you have any potential changes you’d like to make to your schedule?

Sometimes when I do homework I get distracted, from anything, really. I find ways to work around it. If I can’t finish it at home, I plan to finish it through the many times our school provides homework, whether advisory or seminar.

Is there any recommendation you’d make to students who are trying to find a schedule that works for them?

I’d advise to balance between fun activities and homework. Once you do that, you will feel a lot more satisfied. I’d advise you to do some entertaining activities after work.

How long have you been following the schedule?

Since last month.

And before that?

I didn’t do my homework.
