A Day in the Life: Senior Class President

Senior year is a rather chaotic time period. The year is filled with major life decisions, college applications, and challenging classes. Thats already a lot to handle! Now imagine balancing all of that plus planning events, and ensuring that the rest of the senior class has a great year. For senior class president Emma Foster, this is her everyday routine.

From the beginning, Emma knew the major responsibility she was taking on. Accepting the role of class president required endless brainstorming, communication, and meetings. In fact, about every Thursday she meets with the other senior class officers to discuss important topics. This meeting typically takes up her advisory time for the day. In these meetings the officers discuss dances, events, and other possibilities for the senior class. As we near graduation, Emma has another major responsibility tacked on to her plate. As an influential asset to the class of 2025, she is tasked with preparing a speech for the graduation ceremony on May 31st. She aims to reflect and ensure that the year is memorable for the senior class.

“I do enjoy being class president even though it can be a bit difficult at times.” Emma shared. “I feel as though there is a fair amount of responsibility that comes with this role, but it’s shared evenly throughout all the class officers.”

On top of her presidential duties, Emma has to balance her challenging coursework and extracurriculars. Within her schedule, she takes a multitude of AP classes. The classes she takes range from AP Biology to AP Calculus AB. She estimates she has about two hours of homework each night. Emma is also a valuable member of the Herron Quiz Bowl team, Prom Committee, and Jazz Band. From tournaments to concerts, Emma continuously plays a huge role in contributions to the school environment.

“I love being a part of everything i can. I especially love participating in Quizbowl and class officers.” She said.

In her limited free time, she spends her hours hanging out with friends. She can also be found exploring the world of classic films. Emma also spends time helping out at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum! Her hobbies provide her a much needed escape and break from her busy schedule. The way she is able to balance her school life and personal life is truly impressive.

The senior class is truly lucky to have someone as determined as Emma. Her leadership along with the other officers has shaped this year in the best way.
