As our senior’s high school careers come to an end, we will get to see each and every one of them take their own unique path into their adult life and career. While a lot of them will be heading to a nearby college to begin this journey, some students are about to begin adventures that will be filled with a little more unknown than others. Whether they are destined for our downtown neighbors Indiana University Indianapolis, a foreign country, or the sky, each and every one of our seniors are about to start their own journeys.
Miles Kahl

Miles has had his heart set on studying abroad in the UK since freshman year. In just these past few weeks he made a final decision on which school he will attend – King’s College London. King’s College is home to many international students, in fact it is ranked the 11th most international post-secondary school in the world. This is not a decision that Miles has made lightly, he knows exactly why his choice is right for him.
“I decided to study abroad because of the opportunities for experience it offers. King’s College London has a very high percentage of international students, so I won’t only meet people from the UK, but all over the world. This diversity of experiences led me to consider studying abroad, but other factors made going to the UK my top choice. To be honest, it surprised me that I could skip general ed classes and get a degree in only 3 years with a similar price to many private schools here in the US. Compared to American colleges, universities in the UK seem to be more focused on studying for a specific major or career. If you want to skip right to the classes you are interested in and are looking for a very unique experience, studying abroad is a surprisingly achievable goal!”
Natalie Alvarez-Bobadilla
Natalie is taking a gap year, but it might look a little different than you’re picturing. Next year we will find Natalie as a 92R parachute rigger in the National Guard!
I chose this path because I wanted to do something that challenges me in a completely different way before continuing school, and I also wanted to make sure my MOS [Military Occupational Specialty} was something I’d enjoy.
Natalie is looking forward to building skills she can use throughout her whole life. But this isn’t all she has planned out! After she finished her run with the National Guard, Natalie is applying to dental school. In Indiana, the Air National Guard will pay for up to 100% of her educational costs!
This is a great way to help pay for the costs of college. Plus, it’ll also help strengthen my work ethic and make me more responsible.

Jude May

While Jude is heading straight to university here in Indiana, his path will be far from typical. Next year, he will be attending Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center – which is located at the Indianapolis International Airport.
I’m taking the Aviation Maintenance Program, with the goal of getting an Airframe & Powerplant certification, which makes me certified to work on aircraft for a lot of companies.
This program will leave Jude with many future benefits as it provides local work opportunities. This is a special leg-up in the aviation field, where jobs are in high demand. Would you trust a plane that Jude May had a hand in powering?
Kourtney Davidson
Kourtney is looking at an especially creative next period of her life. She will be attending an art-centered college, specifically to pursue a career in fashion and design. Kourtney is aware of how her plans are differing from her friend’s and peer’s, but she is looking forward to her future.
Choosing a creative career means being allowed more freedom within my job and being able to create things that people love and enjoy and just being able to have fun in every aspect of my life
She let one factor guide her above all else in her decision to go to art school – fulfillment. She knows that following this path that is flexible while also being challenging will leave her feeling happy and sure, never debating on whether she made the right choices.

We know all of Herron’s 2026 senior class is destined for greatness, whether they stick with their current plans or end up somewhere completely different. No matter what path our seniors are looking down right now, far away or close by, out-of-the-box or more usual, big changes are coming, and we wish luck to every one of them!
