2nd year on Yearbook
Im involved in Mock Trial and debate teams in relation to herron. I also get involved in journalism and writing camps over breaks and summers. I hope to go to IU Bloomington on a Journalism track.
I’ve been on the yearbook staff for only 2 years but have dedicated a large amount of my time outside of school and during free time in school to help with yearbook. I’ve made entire pages and templates this year and last year and have learning more about editing and photo taking.
Outside of Yearbook and Herron I like to do a lot of creative activities. My interests vary from nail art to crocheting and many in between. I enjoy reading and drawing during the summer and going on vacations with family. This summer I plan to take Journalism courses at IU Bloomington for 2 weeks to improve my skills for senior year. The camp will be over-night and we will be staying in actual dorms. Not only am I getting crucial photography and journalism information, but also an early college experience at a university I strongly plan on going to. I can’t wait to get information from real journalism experts and use it to better our school’s yearbook and future book productions.
Hello, my name is Akira. I am a freshman, and this is my first semester in the yearbook and it has been awesome! I joined the yearbook to meet new people and try new things. My catalog sections are portraits and clubs. I’ve only been doing it for one semester, but I hope to return and do the same thing next year. What I do best is interviewing people and taking pictures. I think so because I enjoy getting to know people and learning about them, and I’ve always loved taking photos. What I enjoy most about being at Herron are the extracurricular activities we can do both in and out of school. One of my interests is photography class. I also enjoy learning new math and being part of the home economics club. Some of my hobbies are baking and cooking, which I really love. I also want to get into ceramics because I love pottery. Watching movies, and I enjoy being able to help others. I don’t really have a favorite teacher yet since it’s my first year, but if I had to choose, it would probably be Miss Gillis because she is super helpful her classes are super relaxed so she would have to be my favorite.
The mission of the Herron High School Journalism department is to present an original, accurate, respectful collection of memories from our diverse culture and community without bias to thoughtfully represent the differing interests of our community.
